From transportation, to businesses to food, trucks and busses are essential to life in NYC. These are some of the largest and noisiest vehicles, and have a huge impact on the air quality of our communities. our EV programs support the slashing of these emissions through installing chargers, providing electric incentive programs and continuing to strengthen the grid. Powering NYC, Westchester, and leading the clean energy transition.
About us
We provide power to more than 10 million people and businesses across NYC and Westchester. Reliability and accessibility are central to what we do and how we provide energy service. Leading the industry to power tomorrow is our other focus- we are committed to aggressively transitioning away from fossil fuels to a net-zero economy by 2050. To help achieve this we collaborate with customers, regulators, policymakers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure our clean energy future is informed by principles of affordability, equity, and environmental justice. We’re also heavily investing in new technologies and the infrastructure that can get us there. What are a few things we have achieved so far? • Since 2009, our energy efficiency programs have prevented 11 million metric tons of carbon emissions – the same amount it would take to power 1.4 million homes for a year • Recently, we’ve embarked on an 8-year project to make our systems more resilient in the face of extreme weather events

Our latest Reliable Clean City Project, Idlewild, is a substation set to enhance the reliability and capacity of the electrical grid in southeast Queens. Idlewild is part of a $1.2 billion investment to modernize the grid, with the goal to be fully operational by 2028. This substation aims to meet the growing demand in the area - while providing clean energy to homes, businesses, and major transportation hubs. Congratulations to our three employees who received the EPRI Technology Transfer Awards for their contributions to advancing sustainable energy practices and research on clean heat solutions. This study focused on electrification technology for building heating systems, which aligns with NY State’s climate goals. They evaluated the effectiveness of geothermal and air-source heat pumps in reducing emissions and reliance on fossil fuels to enhance safety, reliability, and aid in the Clean Energy transition. “Our great workers apply their expertise and curiosity every day to come up with new strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure a safe, sustainable region and planet for generations to come,” said Matthew Ketschke, President, Con Edison. During Earth week and every week, we're continuously reimagining local spaces for ecological richness. Our rewilding projects create pollinator habitats, reintroduces native flora, and increases species native to New York. This fosters a happier, healthier workforce and contributes to community well-being in suburban and urban areas. Learn more at: http://spr.ly/6048bcTQm. #biodiversity
