What you need to know if you’re planning to expand your natural gas service in Brooklyn, Queens or Long Island.

If you’re looking to expand your natural gas service in Brooklyn, Queens or Long Island, we will not be able to meet your request unless the Northeast Supply Enhancement Project (NESE) is approved and comes online. You may have read about NESE in the news. It’s a natural gas supply project to deliver additional resources to the downstate New York region. To be clear, we need this additional supply to support all new requests for natural gas, for residential, multifamily and business purposes.

Please note that if you are currently a National Grid customer in Brooklyn, Queens or Long Island, your current level of service will not be impacted, but new requests to expand your use of natural gas will be impacted. This issue does not impact customers on Staten Island.

If you would like to support the need for NESE, including advocating for friends, families, neighbors or businesses who may want to either convert to natural gas, or request new gas services or expand their existing gas services, please go to our TAKE ACTION site by July 13 to express support for this critical energy project. It only takes a few moments to fill out required information and automatically send a form letter of support directly to Governor Cuomo, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and federal, state and local elected officials within your zip code.

NESE requires approval from the DEC, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and a final approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) before the project can proceed.
|

In the meantime, we’ll continue to work with all parties to gain approval for this critical natural gas supply that is vital to customers, the environment, and the region’s economic viability.
